Pilates Body and Mind, founded by Penny Brian in 2011.

I discovered Pilates following a back injury and found that it gave me not only relief from back pain but it also gave my body both a full and balanced workout. This unique exercise method gave me strength, flexibility and muscle tone without bulk. It was also incredibly relaxing, which was very much needed when coping with the demands that a young family and fourth baby had made on me both physically and mentally. I was so impressed, that I decided to undergo the rigorous training required to become a Body Control Pilates teacher.

At Body Control

I have since gone on to have a fifth baby and to become a teacher at the prestigious Body Control Pilates Centre, near Covent Garden. There I teach both private and group classes to students and the public alike. I am now also a Supervising Teacher for Body Control, assisting student teachers with their training in order to qualify. I attribute my ability to manage all of this, to the balance between body and mind which my practice of Pilates provides me with..

I remain passionate about Pilates and truly believe that it can be of benefit to literally any body regardless of their fitness level, age or gender.

For me Pilates is about good functional movement that improves your body on a day to day basis whether a top athlete, dancer or simply going about your day as a busy parent, working at a desk or responding to any other demanding career .

I continue to study Pilates and also regularly attend courses to increase my knowledge of Pilates, anatomy, fascia, movement and other methods that will further my knowledge and teaching.
